Jimmy Rane Foundation Scholarship

The Jimmy Rane Foundation was started with the intention of funding college tuition for worthy students. Since then, 620 scholarships have been given out by the Foundation to worthy students. These dedicated and exceptional students have utilized these scholarships to attend universities around the nation, including Auburn, Alabama, University of Pennsylvania, Harvard, Texas Tech, Oklahoma State, Baylor, Indiana, Troy, Duke, Stanford, Vanderbilt, Georgia Tech, Georgia, and many others. These outstanding students will no doubt use their knowledge to great effect, in our opinion. We also believe they will eventually help someone else in need in return.

On December 1, 2023, the 2024 Jimmy Rane Foundation scholarship application will go live. The deadline for applications is early February 2024.

  • Depending on the student’s financial need, different amounts of the Jimmy Rane Foundation Scholarship are given.
  • The annual award ranges from $500 to $5,000.

The Jimmy Rane Foundation Scholarship is limited to applicants that reside in the following states and the District of Columbia: Alabama, Arkansas, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia or West Virginia.

Field of Study: One of the scholarships available in the United States is for students majoring in science-related classes as well as those majoring in art-related courses. This is distinct from scholarships that favor specific courses over others.

As long as the applicant is in excellent academic standing and a legitimate citizen of the United States of America, they are eligible for this scholarship regardless of their subject of study.

Additionally, applicants must be high school seniors, sophomores, or currently enrolled students at any approved tertiary institution in the United States of America.

Jimmy Rane Foundation Scholarship Requirement and Eligibility

The following qualifications must be met in order to be considered for a Jimmy Rane Foundation Scholarship:

  • Scholarships from the Foundation may only be used at institutions that are listed by the U.S. Department of Education as being accredited by reputable accrediting agencies and that regularly maintain a regular faculty and curriculum, as well as a regularly organized body of students in attendance at the location where the educational activities are carried out;
  • No one who works for Great Southern Wood Preserving, Incorporated, its parent company, affiliates, or subsidiaries, or anybody in their immediate families or households is permitted to apply.
  • Students must attest that they did not participate in intercollegiate athletics as a student-athlete during the previous semester (or quarter, if applicable), or academic year (whether on a full or partial athletic scholarship, or otherwise), and that they will not do so during the upcoming semester (or quarter, if applicable), or academic year.
  • Scholarships from the Jimmy Rane Foundation are not available primarily to students pursuing degrees through online or remote learning programs;*
  • A grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.0 for seniors graduating from high school;
  • High school seniors enrolled full-time who are on track to graduate in the spring or summer of 2024 and who intend to enroll in college no later than the fall after graduation OR college freshmen or sophomores enrolled full-time who are no older than 20 as of August 1, 2024, and who are on track to earn a bachelor’s degree;
  • A grade point average (GPA) of 2.75 or above is required for college candidates;
  • All candidates must be legal residents of one of the following states or the District of Columbia (permanent home address): Alabama, Arkansas, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, or West Virginia.
  • Citizenship or residency in the United States;
  • When a portion of the needed curriculum is taught on campus and the course is solely offered online or through distance learning, online/distance learning courses are allowed.
  • Scholars of the Jimmy Rane Foundation are students who have a clear financial need to attend college and who also demonstrate academic achievement, leadership potential, and a commitment to their community. They must exhibit the will and capacity to get over obstacles and accomplish their objectives.

No.

What if after I submit my application, my SAT or ACT score changes?

Should I inform you of my results? No. Your scores must be submitted by the February deadline or earlier.

Do you need a certain grade point average?

Yes. The minimum grade point average (GPA) requirement for high school applicants is 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. On a scale of 4.0, all college candidates must have a 2.75 GPA.

The scholarship is awarded in part based on financial necessity.

The parent or guardian who you lived with for the majority of this past year should have their income listed. Please include a statement explaining the issue if your name is not on that tax return.

Can I attend any college and pursue any major with the Jimmy Rane Foundation Scholarship?

Any educational institution that is identified by the U.S. Department of Education as being accredited by reputable accrediting agencies and that routinely maintains a regular faculty and curriculum as well as a regularly organized body of students in attendance is eligible to apply for all scholarships. Any major that leads to a bachelor’s degree is open to scholarship recipients. You do not need to be a candidate seeking a degree if the educational setting is a technical college.

The Foundation’s sole fundraising event is the Jimmy Rane Charity Golf Tournament, which is funded via sponsorships.
