The Centennial International President of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated will give a $125,000 scholarship to a new recipient every year starting in 2020, the sorority’s 100th anniversary year, as a tribute to the five founding members of Zeta Phi Beta. Triumphant Founder Viola Tyler Goings will have the 2023 Founders’ Centennial Scholarship named after her.
One meritorious female high school senior will receive the scholarship award in 2023, which will cover educational expenses up to and not including a maximum of $125,000. The recipient of the award must show a moderate to severe need for financial help in order to pursue her further education ambitions. The prize is intended to recognize a female high school senior who exemplifies personal integrity and quality through academic accomplishment and community activity. The award recipient may finish her undergraduate studies at any accredited four-year institution or university in the field of her choice.
An international search will be conducted by Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. and the Zeta National Educational Foundation to identify and select the most deserving recipient.

The National Educational Foundation of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.’s objective is to encourage higher education success through scholarships and to perform community education programs and related research to raise living standards for both individuals and communities. The Foundation awards scholarships each year to deserving undergraduate and graduate students who are pursuing higher education.

It is not necessary to be a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. or any of its auxiliary organizations to be eligible for any of the Zeta Phi Beta Scholarships.

One of the main criteria for awarding the Triumphant Founder Viola Tyler Goings Centennial Scholarship is demonstrated financial need. By answering “Yes” to the question, “Do you qualify for Free or Reduced lunch based upon the U.S. Federal guidelines?” on the eligibility quiz, female high school seniors can demonstrate their financial need and be matched with the Founders’ Centennial Scholarship application.
The Federal School Lunch Program is not offered at all schools, as is recognized by Zeta National Educational Foundation, Inc. Because of this, “qualify” is a specific word in the scholarship matching question on the Eligibility Quiz. Female high school seniors do not have to receive free or reduced fare lunch at the time of application, but they should meet or be within the guidelines to qualify for the program. You are encouraged to indicate that you are eligible for Free or Reduced price lunch on the scholarship application if you are a female high school senior and can show financial need by providing the specific information requested in the Founders’ Scholarship application (such as your FAFSA Estimated Family Contribution).
